"Sherlock" Shines on Masterpiece Mystery

It's time for the next season of "Sherlock and it'll be well worth the wait.
”Sherlock” is both an adaptation and a modern update. Gone are the Victorian clothes, the horses and carriages, and the genial but bumbling Dr. Watson. Instead we get text-messaging, Skyping, and a blogging Watson (Martin Freeman) with the spirit and wit to match his famous comrade in arms.

Sherlock Holmes Trivia and New Adventures

I've been watching the BBCs offering "Sherlock", the adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson set in 21st Century London.  The series is a thrilling, funny, fast-paced contemporary remake of Arthur Conan Doyle's classic.  The co-creator and writer of the series promises you'll find Holmes and Watson "living, breathing, modern men". Personally, I recommend the series for those who like to test their powers of deduction.

While Benedict Cumberbatch plays Sherlock as brilliant, aloof, and almost entirely lacking in social graces, we probably most remember Basil Rathbone in the role.  Newer adventures with Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law are more physical than the original, but it's Sherlock's mind that has thrilled us through the ages and no one did it better than Rathbone.  so let's "return to those thrilling days of yesteryear" and renew our memories of the original character and his stories.
